We headed out from Poole, on the Barfleur, to Cherbourg. Although an overcast day there was no wind so the sea was flat calm. A new build at Sandbanks – another football manager’s house?
In France we did a 60 mile drive to Granville which is in the bottom left corner of the Cotentin Peninsula and stayed at a very good site on the outskirts.
Granville is split into the old town, most of which was built in the C18th, which sits high on the promontory of rock overlooking the lower town built on reclaimed land. During the war the town was occupied by the Germans who left plenty of evidence in the form of gun emplacements and block houses.

On the road
We arrived at Penestin and set up shop at a very nice campsite about 5 minutes from the centre. We had a good view of the fishing lake and loads of space for our plot. There is not a lot to the village of Penestin, but it does have the essentials.

Another beach close to Penestin Vilaine Estuary, La Roche Bernard
We went to check out a campsite we nearly went to which was by the beach. It was rather wooded and had small plots so we were glad we were on the site we had chosen.
Enjoying the view.
Piriac sur Mer – a beautiful ancient village close to Penestin
We spent 6 nights at Penestin and then moved north west to La Trinite sur Mer.
